I chose Angie to launch this new section of Essence of Style because she has an incredible eye for details and quality, as well as a deep appreciation for creativity. It is indeed her signature that makes her weekly editorial on SL Fashion such a success.

Angie's home is breath taking.  Upon arrival I was immediately impressed with an overall sense of peace and calm.  She calls her land "Serenity" and it is aptly named.  I have seen a goodly number of houses and builds in SL but this house had such specific details and thought put into every placement, it took me only seconds to actually be there in my mind.  I could see this home in real life and I was visiting Angie.

 

Angie is quick to credit the talent behind everything.  Tya Fallingbridge did the house which Angie has modified.  "She was responsible for my falling in love with home and garden.  When I first came to SL her store was the first one I found that had everything in it, clothes, furniture, pre-fabs.  I was hooked.The house itself is beautifully open and functional, inviting one in and flowing beautifully.  The whole presentation created that sense of unity - whether you were outside on the patio, down by the beach, or in the bedroom .. It is all just one cohesive living space. I found the contradiction interesting because on one hand Angie is incredibly private and yet her home is so open and inviting.   She is quick to point out that her home is on a corner lot in a very private estate area of Reach Isles and she has intense security.  "This is the one place I come to be quiet.  I can be creative.  I can think.  I have to talk so much in the rest of SL with the show and everything.  Here I don't."

Angie chose her land because it has the ocean view and a high number of prims.  It is easy to see why she needs the prims.  Her love of the details, her collection of art, her expression of who she is … it is all there in gorgeous detail.  Again Angie credits the designers who think enough to put food into her fridge, which she can open and actually take something to eat. Textures are everything, and just as she modified the house, Angie will take a couch and change the pillows or redo a bed.  I love the way she took what was to be a Jacuzzi and redid it so it became a beautiful lily pond complete with gentle butterflies… such a simple and pretty effect.  "I am always on the look out for new stores and new designers.  I like designers that grow and evolve and am disappointed when you see the same things and designs that were here in SL when I began.  SL is always evolving and changing and there are so many new tools available."

Angie admits to changing her style and her houses frequently.  She collects pre-fabs and sees them like her canvas.  She enjoys the process of creating.  Colour, textures and collections, she mixes and strokes and the result is a beautiful environment that captures you and pulls you in , every little casual nuance adding to the overall feeling.   A blanket tossed here, a pillow plumped there …. an unexpected hidden alcove to sit in and ponder.

I asked Angie how much of this home reflected her real life style and if her designing attempts in SL had influenced anything in RL.   "All of this is my style…. except with an unlimited budget of course .. lol."  I don't live near a beach in RL.  I don't do beaches in RL because they are just dirty.  So I get to live on one here and it is perfect.   As for influencing me in RL … I would actually paint my walls white in RL now and I would not have done that before."

Angie commented that this was the year people woke up to the talents of the home and garden designers and she is glad it is happening.  "Just look at the talent of these people.  They deserve a lot more attention."   We at Essence of Style Magazine could not agree more with Angie  and want to thank her for sharing her home with all of us and for the most fitting kick off to this series.  The woman has style and class … and it is clearly evident in everything she turns her hand to.
